Audemars Piguet celebrates 50 years of Royal Oak with the new extra-slim “Jumbo”

Believe it or not, theRoyal Oakwill officially celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022. To commemorate this milestone, Audemars Piguet has launched four exclusive watches in 18K rose and yellow gold, as well as platinum and steel versions for the newExtra-fine “Jumbo”.

ReplacingGauge 2121(one the AP has been using for theRoyal Oaksince 1972) is theGauge 7121It features a new automatic hour, minute and date movement.

All four 38mm watches are part of the newRoyal Oak “Jumbo” extra finecollection, with special emphasis on the 8.1mm “jumbo”(reference 16202)case equipped withGauge 7121movement, all without changing the overall aesthetic and size.

Created by Audemars Piguet’s expert engineers after five years of research and development, the new movement features a larger barrel that maintains accurate time for longer periods, along with a power-efficient date setting mechanism.

Other refined elements such as the “Côtes de Genève”, “traits tirés” and fine watchmaking decorations with circular graining can also be seen through the sapphire caseback, adding a precious touch to these 50th anniversary watches. . A highlight includes the 22-carat gold open oscillating weight matched to the color of each case, accompanied by the “50 YEARS” logo and engraved Audemars Piguet signature, typically reserved for complicated timepieces.

This specific shade is created by adding drops of green over the protective varnish, further accentuated by the smoky effect on the periphery to create additional depth.
